Gear Up for Magnificent Motors

Henriod 1898

A totally original 1898 Henriod DVC will be leading the vintage line-up at this years Magnificent Motors event. The free, two day motoring spectacular returns from 5 – 6 May with over a Century of motoring.

Made in Switzerland, the Henriod can run on either petrol or alcohol making it one of the oldest Swiss cars and the oldest hybrid car in the world. In direct contrast to the youngest exhibit at the event, the 2002 MG ZS 180, the Henriod has only 3 gears but no clutch or gearbox and wooden blocks for brakes!

Eastbourne Borough Council Director of Tourism, Economy & Environment, Norman Kinnish, comments “This year we hope to refresh and grow what is already a successful event. With the presence of clubs and private enthusiasts alike, the event provides a literal automotive timeline and with a mix of rides and attractions Magnificent Motors makes for a great day out for everyone.”

More than 25,000 visitors are expected to come and see a vast collection of over 500 vintage and classic cars, motorcycles, buses, commercial and military vehicles and stream traction engines. With even more exhibitors and many clubs, registered this year including The Triumph Stag Owners Club, The Lone Star Auto Club and the Austin Sevens Owners Club, the event is set to display a magnificent array of original, rare and exciting vehicles.

Both days now starting with the seafront cavalcade spectacle, the event aims to draw even bigger crowds. This years’ festival also includes Auto-Jumble pitches giving the opportunity to buy and sell vintage or classic motor spares that may have been collecting dust in garages.

The event, organised by Eastbourne Borough Council in association with Eastbourne Historic Vehicle Club and East Sussex Omnibus Society are also pleased to announce that local business, Visick Cars, will be supporting this superb vehicle show celebrating their own 100 years of trading.

The event also plays host to a magnificent range of attractions including a French Market on the Promenade, live entertainment on the Western Lawns, bar and refreshments, memorabilia and a vintage bus service.
